Kitui County Concludes Enumerator Training, Data Collection Set to Begin on January 22nd

The County Government of Kitui has finalized a comprehensive training program for data enumerators, laying the groundwork for a large-scale data collection exercise scheduled to commence on January 22, 2025.

The five-day training, held at the Kitui Agricultural Training Centre, equipped the enumerators with the necessary tools, techniques, and knowledge to carry out a seamless data collection process. This initiative aims to gather critical information to inform evidence-based decision-making and improve service delivery in key sectors such as health, agriculture, education, and infrastructure development.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Peter Kilonzo, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Finance, emphasized the importance of the data collection exercise in shaping Kitui’s development agenda. “Accurate and timely data is the backbone of effective planning and resource allocation. This exercise is a crucial step toward achieving the county’s vision of sustainable growth and improved livelihoods for all,” he said.

Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, CECM for Agriculture, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the role of data in enhancing agricultural productivity and food security. “The data collected will provide insights into the needs of our farmers, enabling us to design and implement targeted interventions that address their challenges,” Dr. Kimwele remarked.

Lynn Kitwan, Chief Officer for Public Health, noted that the exercise would also provide critical health data to inform public health strategies, especially in addressing community-specific health concerns.

The enumerators are now set to deploy across Kitui County’s eight sub-counties to collect data from households, businesses, and community institutions. This initiative underscores the county’s dedication to fostering inclusive and participatory development.

The findings from the data collection will be analyzed and used to prioritize projects and programs that align with the county’s development goals.
