The Kitui County Government has received a consignment of medical supplies worth Ksh 28 million from the Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS). The delivery, comprising drugs for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), painkillers, antibiotics, and essential non-pharmaceutical items, is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services across the county.
Speaking during the delivery, Aggrey Kamba, Chief Officer for Drugs and Medical Supplies, affirmed the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services. “This delivery is a testament to the dedication of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s administration to the health and well-being of Kitui residents. It aligns perfectly with the governor’s manifesto, which prioritizes reliable and accessible healthcare services,” said Kamba.
The medical supplies will be distributed to all 14 hospitals in the county, with an emphasis on ensuring accessibility for residents in remote and underserved areas. Governor Malombe’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening Kitui’s health system, ensuring health facilities are adequately equipped to provide timely and efficient care.
This initiative aims to address critical gaps in the availability of medical resources, reduce the burden of referrals to distant hospitals, and improve patient outcomes across the county.
The delivery marks a significant milestone in the county’s ongoing efforts to prioritize healthcare and improve the quality of life for its residents.
