Kitui East Member of Parliament Hon. Nimrod Mbai has called on Kitui residents to rally behind President William Ruto’s government, dismissing the perception that the Ukambani region is a stronghold of the Wiper Party.
Speaking on Friday at a gathering in his constituency, Mbai challenged the view that Ukambani should automatically align with the Wiper Party, led by Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka. He stated, “The notion that Ukambani is a Wiper zone is rubbish. A party cannot benefit the people; a government can. We fully support President Ruto’s government.”
Hon. Mbai urged his constituents to avoid “enslavement” by the Wiper Party, asserting that it lacks the capacity to form the next government. He argued that Musyoka is unlikely to defeat President Ruto in a presidential race, and he encouraged locals to align themselves with the current administration to ensure they benefit from national development projects.
“The people of Kitui need to position themselves with the government of the day to secure development opportunities,” Mbai added, emphasizing the importance of supporting the administration for regional advancement.
The MP’s comments highlight an ongoing debate in the region about political affiliations, with leaders urging residents to reconsider traditional party loyalties in favor of aligning with the ruling government.
