Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe Attends Funeral of AIC Bishop Emeritus Titus Musili Kivunzi

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe attended the funeral of the late retired Africa Inland Church (AIC) Presiding Bishop Emeritus Titus Musili Kivunzi. The solemn ceremony took place at Bishop Kivunzi’s rural home in Winzyeei, Kyome/Thaana Ward, Mwingi West Sub-County.

Governor Malombe paid tribute to Bishop Kivunzi, describing him as a dedicated and devout servant of God who provided outstanding leadership within the church and beyond. “His life served as a profound inspiration to countless individuals. Kitui County and the entire nation have indeed lost a true son of the soil and a diligent spiritual leader, whose impact and legacy will be remembered for generations to come,” said Governor Malombe.

Bishop Kivunzi passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 82, after suffering a massive heart attack. He is survived by his widow, Peninnah Nzavi Mwalwa, his son, Kivunzi Musili, and two grandchildren.

The funeral was attended by numerous dignitaries, including former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, former Defense Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, and Members of Parliament Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Hon. Veth Nyenze (Kitui West), and Dr. Irene Kasalu (Kitui County). Former senators David Musila (Kitui) and Johnson Muthama (Machakos) were also present.

AIC Kenya Presiding Bishop Abraham Mulwa led the ceremony, which drew a large gathering of religious and political leaders, as well as hundreds of mourners from Kitui and beyond. Several Members of the County Assembly of Kitui and County Executive officials were also in attendance.

The funeral highlighted Bishop Kivunzi’s enduring influence and the legacy he leaves behind in the church and the community.
