The County Ministry of Energy, Environment, Climate Change, Forestry, Natural and Mineral Resources today held a capacity-building workshop in Kyangwithya West and Kitui Township Wards, aimed at strengthening the County Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) for the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLOCCA) program.
The workshop focused on equipping ward-level grievance structures with the skills needed for effective monitoring and oversight of FLOCCA projects.
The structures will play a critical role in screening proposed projects for potential social and environmental risks, conducting site visits to assess project viability, and participating in stakeholder consultation forums.
Speaking at the event, Kitui Chief Officer for Environment Climate change and Forestry, David Soi Masai, emphasized the importance of collaboration in ensuring effective service delivery and project success.
In addition to risk screening, the GRM teams will handle community complaints, ensure proper communication channels are established, and oversee the implementation of FLOCCA projects across the county. Their work will contribute to a more transparent and inclusive climate action program.
The GRM structures will be rolled out in all 40 wards, ensuring comprehensive community participation in climate-related initiatives.
