Yatta kwa Vonza Member of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Nding’o, has publicly rejected recent calls to extend the 7-year term limit for elected officials in Kenya, asserting that this proposal does not address the pressing needs of the country’s citizens.
Nding’o expressed his strong opposition to the idea, which he believes could distract leaders from focusing on crucial development issues affecting Kenyans.
Speaking during the “Eyes in Politics” segment on the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) Morning Talk Show, Nding’o criticized the proposal as a misguided move. “The current voters in Kenya are aware that leaders are not prioritizing the real issues affecting them,” he stated. “This idea of extending the 7-year term limit is a wrong idea that should be completely discarded.”
An established governance and leadership expert, Nding’o argued that the proposal, reportedly backed by Senator Samson Cherargei, would ultimately fail to serve the interests of the people. He emphasized the importance of leaders prioritizing service delivery and addressing the nation’s socioeconomic challenges over what he described as “unending political rhetoric.”
“Our country cannot sustain this worthless pursuit of extending term limits for elected leaders,” he warned. Nding’o urged his fellow leaders to commit to delivering tangible services rather than being entangled in divisive political agendas.
In addition to his role as an MCA, Hon. Mark Nding’o holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Management, an MBA in Strategic Management, and is an active businessman in the real estate sector.
