Kitui County Woman Representative Dr. Irene Kasalu has officially announced her intention to run for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the upcoming 2027 General Elections. Currently serving her second term as the county MP, Dr. Kasalu emphasized her unique leadership style, noting that it differs from that of previous women leaders from Kitui, whom she asked not to be compared to in a indirect reference to Charity Ngilu.
In a move that underscores her commitment to social welfare, Dr. Kasalu recently handed over a newly constructed house to a needy woman in Malalani, located in the Malalani/Endau ward of Kitui East constituency. This gesture is part of a larger plan to build 50 additional homes across the county as part of her ongoing efforts to support vulnerable populations.
“My leadership is centered on empowering and uplifting the needy across Kitui,” Dr. Kasalu remarked, underscoring her focus on addressing the needs of disadvantaged individuals and families throughout the county.
Dr. Kasalu also issued empowerment checks to various groups in Kitui, aimed at promoting community welfare and economic self-reliance. This initiative aligns with her long-term vision to provide resources and opportunities for the county’s most vulnerable citizens.
As Kitui gears up for the 2027 elections, Dr. Kasalu’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and support for the underprivileged has positioned her as a strong contender for the county’s top seat.
