Minority Leader Offers Advice to Peninah Malonza on Political Strategy

Kitui County Assembly Minority Leader Hon. Alex Nganga has offered some candid advice to former CS Peninah Malonza, urging her to adopt a different approach in her political endeavors. Malonza, who is currently seeking to align herself with President William Ruto’s administration, has been advised to steer clear of direct public attacks against Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

In a statement, Nganga acknowledged that there is dissatisfaction with Musyoka’s leadership among some quarters, including himself. However, he emphasized the importance of employing a more strategic approach to connect with the people.

Nganga advised Malonza to focus on communicating the achievements and plans of President Ruto’s government for Kitui and the larger Ukambani region. He highlighted key projects such as the completion of the Umaa Dam and the tarmacking of the remaining section of the Kitui-Kibwezi road to Mbondoni, which would significantly benefit the local communities and enhance the President’s standing.

Nganga also referred to recent public discontent, citing the “Mchele drive” initiative as a misstep that did not resonate well with the public. He advised Malonza to refrain from mentioning it in public discourse and to delegate such matters to local administrators like Chiefs and Sub-Chiefs.

He reminded her of the missed opportunities under the Arid and Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) program, which could have focused on more impactful projects like dam construction rather than less significant initiatives.

Finally, Nganga encouraged Malonza to adopt a reconciliatory tone if she succeeds in returning to the Cabinet. He advised her to avoid internal conflicts within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, particularly with figures like Hon. Nimrod Mbai, whom he referred to as a friend.

The Minority Leader’s advice reflects a call for a more thoughtful and collaborative approach to politics in Kitui, aimed at achieving tangible benefits for the region’s residents.
