MP Charles Nguna Calls for Unity and Patience in Kenya

Hon. Charles Nguna, the Member of Parliament for Mwingi West and a representative of the Wiper Democratic Movement, has made a heartfelt appeal to Kenyans, urging them to prioritize peace and stability amidst ongoing political unrest.

In a statement posted on his social media platforms, Hon. Nguna reflected on the current state of the nation, emphasizing the need for unity. He recalled his earlier call for the dissolution of parliament in 2023 but now stresses the importance of giving the government an opportunity to serve the people effectively.

“Fellow Kenyans,” he began, “I was the first MP to call for the dissolution of parliament in 2023 during an interview on a local radio station. However, this is the time to unite as a country. Let us cease these demonstrations and wait for the president to appoint the cabinet, constitute the IEBC, and give this government a chance to serve us.”

Hon. Nguna highlighted President William Ruto’s recent actions in response to public concerns, noting:

1. The rejection of the Finance Bill 2024.
2. The dissolution of the Cabinet.
3. A promise to undertake further restructuring.

“Sometimes there comes a time when the peace and stability of the country are more important than anything else,” Nguna stated. “Businessmen are suffering huge losses, Kenyans are losing lives, and we are all suffering from these prolonged demonstrations. Kenyans have a chance to revisit 2027 and do the right thing.”

Addressing the sanctity of parliament, he acknowledged the concerns of many citizens. “The sanctity of parliament has been violated, but electorates who are not contented with their MPs can recall them once the IEBC is in place.”
