MP Didmus Baraza Fires Back at Senator Boni Khalwale Over Helicopter Purchase Remarks

Nairobi, July 3, 2024 – Kimilili MP Didmus Baraza has hit back at Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale following remarks made by the senator in the Senate proceedings regarding Baraza’s recent purchase of a helicopter.

In a fiery social media post, Baraza confirmed the purchase and defended his decision, stating it was a choice between prioritizing his family and investments. “I have heard you mention me in the Senate proceedings regarding my purchase of a helicopter. Indeed, this is true. I made a choice between having one wife, a helicopter, and trusting in God,” Baraza wrote.

Baraza went on to criticize Senator Khalwale’s personal choices, contrasting them with his own. “In contrast, you chose a Nissan Patrol, ten wives, over twenty-five concubines, fathered forty-six known children, and maintain 35 houses for hood rats across the country. Maintaining such a large family and numerous homes is exponentially more expensive than having one wife, one helicopter, and three children. You are just an old, superficial, and misleading fela,” Baraza added.

The exchange has sparked significant debate on social media, with many weighing in on the personal lives and financial decisions of the two politicians. Senator Khalwale has yet to respond to Baraza’s comments.
