Mp Nimrod Mbai welcomes NYAMAI to the race, Calls for Respectful Campaign as UDA County Chairmanship Race Heats Up

By YOANA KIMWELE.

Kitui, June 23, 2024 — Hon. Nimrod Mbai, Member of Parliament for Kitui East, has made a public plea for respect and decorum in the upcoming race for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) County Chairmanship. This follows the announcement that Hon. CPA Charles Nyamai, a former Member of Parliament for Kitui Rural, will be vying for the same position.

Addressing his UDA teams on his social Media Pages, from the county level to the polling centres, Hon. Mbai acknowledged Hon. Nyamai as a formidable competitor, highlighting his extensive experience as a ranking member of the National Assembly, where he served two full terms.

“Parliament is a House of rules, order, and protocols. With my seven years as a Member of Parliament, it is expected of me to treat Hon. Nyamai with respect and decorum no matter the circumstances,” said Mbai.

He urged all members of the Mbaya Mbaya Liberation Movement to extend the same respect to Hon. Nyamai throughout the campaign. “It is my plea to all the Mbaya Mbaya Liberation Movement lieutenants to treat Hon. CPA Charles Nyamai with honour as we compete with him,” Mbai added.

In his address, Mbai reiterated the movement’s commitment to liberating Kitui from what he described as “political cartels, political parasites, and wannabes,” and to making UDA the majority party in the County Assembly of Kitui by 2027.

“Remember, we have an agenda to liberate Kitui from political cartels, political parasites, wannabes, and make UDA the majority party in the County Assembly of Kitui come 2027. This we have to achieve, and nothing can stand between us and our goal, but as we do it, let’s accord Hon. Nyamai the honour he deserves as a ranking former MNA. Welcome to the race, my big brother,” Mbai stated.

Hon. Mbai concluded his remarks with a call to focus on the larger political mission rather than personal rivalries. “Hate the game, don’t hate the player. Kama Mbaya Mbaya, back to factory settings,” he declared.

The UDA County Chairmanship race in Kitui promises to be a significant political event, with both seasoned politicians vying for leadership in a contest that is expected to shape the future of the party in the region.
