Kenya-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Strengthens Ties in High-Level Meeting
Dr. Rachael Nyamai, Member of Parliament for Kitui South, represented the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, in a high-profile meeting with the Kenya-China Parliamentary Friendship Group at the National Assembly.
The meeting, held to foster stronger bilateral ties, was attended by a delegation led by Prof. Hao Ping, Head of the China Parliamentary Friendship Group, along with members Ma Viming and Zhang Li, among others.
Dr. Nyamai welcomed the Chinese delegation on behalf of the National Assembly Speaker and expressed Kenya’s commitment to enhancing parliamentary diplomacy with China. She highlighted the importance of collaboration in areas such as infrastructure, trade, education, and technology to strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
The Kenyan delegation included Hon. Shakeel Shabir, Chair of the Kenya-China Parliamentary Group, alongside prominent MPs such as Hon. Beatrice Elachi, Hon. Mishi Mboko, Hon. Stephen Mogaka, Hon. Dr. James Nyikal, Hon. Gideon Sunkuli, Hon. Mary Emase, Hon. Esther Passaris, and Hon. Adagala.
Discussions centered on mutual interests and exploring new opportunities for cooperation. Prof. Hao Ping acknowledged the significant role of Kenya in China’s engagements with Africa and underscored China’s commitment to supporting Kenya’s development agenda.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing optimism about deepening partnerships, leveraging parliamentary ties, and promoting people-to-people exchanges for the mutual benefit of both nations.
