Kitui County Hosts Dissemination Forum for Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP IV) 2023-2027 as Deputy Govenor receives copies on behalf of his boss Dr Julius Makau Malombe EGH.
12th June 2024, Kitui County – Kitui Deputy Governor H.E. Augustine Kanani received copies of the Fourth Medium-Term Plan (MTP IV) 2023-2027 on behalf of Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, from the Cabinet Secretary for East Africa and ASALs, Ms. Penina Malonza. The handover ceremony took place at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) in Kitui County.
Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s 16-point manifesto, The Kitui Promise, aligns with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) and is in sync with the MTP IV of Vision 2030. The CIDP, themed “Accelerating Kitui Economic and Social Transformation Agenda (KESTA)”, prioritizes six key pillars:
1. Food security
2. Water access
3. Health care
4. Aggregation and industrial parks
5. Appropriately nurtured and skilled human capital
6. Planned urban development
During the event, Deputy Governor Kanani emphasized the importance of the MTP IV’s value chain approach, which focuses on enhancing production, value addition, market access, and attracting local and foreign investments. “A value chain describes the production-to-market linkages generating added benefits for the customer,” Kanani explained.
In September 2022, the Kenya Kwanza Administration assumed office with a pledge to transform the economy through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA). BETA is the government’s strategy aimed at economic recovery and growth, emphasizing a value chain approach and targeting sectors with the highest impact.
The dissemination forum marks a significant step in Kitui County’s journey towards achieving economic and social transformation, in line with national development goals.
