In a step towards enhancing healthcare in Kenya, President William Ruto today commissioned the ultra-modern Nyabondo Trauma Centre in Kisumu County.
The facility, which boasts a 150-bed capacity, is equipped with state-of-the-art theaters, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a High Dependency Unit (HDU). This development is a key part of the government’s ongoing efforts to roll out Universal Health Coverage (UHC) across the country.
The trauma center is set to provide quality and affordable healthcare to more than 5 million residents in the Nyanza Region, marking a substantial improvement in the region’s medical infrastructure. The establishment of the facility will ensure that emergency medical care is more accessible, potentially saving countless lives.
President Ruto was accompanied by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Kisumu Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o, and other regional leaders, including Members of Parliament and Members of County Assembly from Nyakach Constituency. Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between the national and county governments to improve healthcare services for Kenyans.
The opening of the Nyabondo Trauma Centre highlights the government’s commitment to transforming the healthcare sector, ensuring that all citizens have access to necessary medical services regardless of their location or socio-economic status.
