During the meeting, President Ruto praised former President Kenyatta for his statesmanship, particularly in ensuring a peaceful transfer of power following the 2022 elections. He acknowledged Kenyatta’s ongoing support for national progress and his efforts to foster cooperation among leaders.

The leaders noted the challenging global economic environment, marked by the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the war in Ukraine, volatile currency markets, and a tough macroeconomic climate.
