In a move toward enhancing the welfare of county assembly members and reinforcing their roles in legislation, oversight, and representation, Kitui County Assembly leadership held a consultative meeting with the CEO of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF), Ms. Lonah Losem.
The meeting, held on Monday, was attended by Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo and Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzioka Nzilu – Lion (MCA Kyangwithya West).
During the discussions, the leaders explored upcoming programs under CAF and strategized on how Kitui County Assembly can effectively collaborate with CAF. The focus was on initiatives aimed at strengthening support for assembly members in executing their mandates, with an emphasis on improving legislative effectiveness, ensuring robust oversight, and enhancing representation within the county.
“We discussed the upcoming CAF programs and also explored how the County Assembly of Kitui will collaborate with CAF to strengthen and improve the welfare of our members as they perform their three core functions of legislation, oversight, and representation,” said Speaker Kinengo.
Ms. Losem echoed the importance of these partnerships, noting that CAF is committed to supporting county assemblies across Kenya. The forum aims to equip members with resources and guidance that will empower them to serve their communities better.
The meeting reflects a growing commitment among county assemblies to work with national organizations, sharing resources and insights to create a more effective and supportive governance environment at the county level.
