In response to a concerning incident at Kyatune Health Center, where a mother delivered her baby outside the facility’s gate due to a delay in receiving prompt medical attention, the Minister of Health and Sanitation, Madam Ruth Koki, accompanied by Chief Officer Dr. Musyoka, acted swiftly to address the situation.
After the matter was raised by Hon. Cyrus Musyoka, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for the area, Minister Koki and a delegation from the Ministry of Health visited the facility on Monday morning to obtain first-hand information.
The incident, which took place at the entrance of the health center, has drawn attention to the need for immediate improvements in the healthcare system to prevent such hazardous occurrences, with public calling upon the hard working health Minister Madam Ruth Koki to administratively intervene for alleged laxity in the facility.
According to Ministry officials, both the mother and newborn were immediately referred to Kitui Referral Hospital, where they are reportedly in stable condition and responding well to care. The Ministry has assured the public of further investigations and emphasized that steps will be taken to ensure such incidents do not happen in the future.
“We are committed to providing quality healthcare for all, and this incident serves as a reminder of the urgent improvements required in some facilities,” stated Minister Koki.
