On 24th September 2024 — Ward assistant officers from across the county have successfully concluded a two-day training program held from 23rd to 24th September 2024 in Kitui town. Organized by the County Assembly, the training aimed at equipping the officers with essential skills to enhance their efficiency in service delivery within their respective wards.
The program focused on key topics crucial for the officers’ roles, including the conduct of public office holders, asset management, imprest management and accounting, ward forum requisition, objectives of ward forums, and forum documentation, among others. These areas are expected to improve how the officers handle daily administrative tasks and manage public resources.
Speaking during the official closing of the training, the Speaker of the County Assembly, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, emphasized the importance of collaboration between ward assistant officers and the Members of County Assembly (MCAs), both elected and nominated. He urged the officers to work closely with the MCAs to ensure efficient service delivery, which would, in turn, help the Assembly fulfill its mandate of representation, legislation, and oversight.
“This training is a key step towards improving governance and service delivery in Kitui County. By working hand in hand with MCAs, you will play a vital role in helping them meet the expectations of the people they represent,” Hon. Katisya remarked.
The officers are now expected to apply the knowledge and skills gained to streamline operations in their wards and improve public engagement and accountability.
