Wiper Party Distances itself AGAINST Deputy President Impeachment Motion

The Wiper Democratic Movement has officially distanced itself from an impeachment motion aimed at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. In a statement issued by the party’s Secretary General, Senator Shakila Abdalla, Wiper clarified that the motion is not supported by the party and emphasized the need for clarity on the matter.

“For the sake of clarity, Kibwezi West MP Hon. Mwengi Mutuse is a member of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, which is a constituent party of the Kenya Kwanza coalition,” the statement read. “This distinction is important in understanding the political alignments and affiliations in Kenya.”

The statement further reiterated Wiper’s position on the matter: “We would also want to reiterate that the Wiper Democratic Movement opposes the proposed impeachment motion against the Deputy President.”

The party’s clarification comes amid rising political tensions surrounding the impeachment, as speculation grew about potential support from various political factions. Wiper remains a key member of the opposition coalition Azimio la Umoja but has made it clear that they are not involved in the ongoing push to impeach the Deputy President.

The impeachment motion, reportedly spearheaded by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, has triggered a wave of reactions within the political landscape. However, Wiper’s clarification draws attention to the complex political relationships in Kenya, as Mutuse’s affiliation is tied to the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party, led by former Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Dr. Alfred Mutua, which is part of the ruling Kenya Kwanza coalition.

This development further underscores the delicate nature of party alignments within Kenya’s political scene, with each move closely scrutinized for its broader implications.
