Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Joins County Ministers to Spearhead Plans for Kitui Aggregation and Industrial Park

The groundwork for a transformative economic initiative in Kitui County took a major step forward as Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA, Hon. Ndingo, joined county leaders and the Ministry of Lands’ State Department for Lands and Physical Planning to plan for the Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park (K-CAIP).

The inaugural stakeholders’ consultative meeting, held at Kanyonyo, brought together county officials, national government representatives, and local stakeholders to deliberate on the creation of a Local Physical and Land Use Development Plan for the proposed industrial park. This flagship project is set to revolutionize industrial growth and agricultural value addition in the region.

Speaking during the meeting, Kitui County Executive for Trade, Rose Mutuku, emphasized the transformative potential of the industrial park in empowering farmers and enhancing value addition in key agricultural sectors.

“The Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park will redefine how we process and add value to our agricultural produce. By focusing on mango, green gram, and livestock value chains, this project will ensure farmers reap maximum benefits while positioning Kitui as a competitive hub for agro-industrial production,” she noted.

Dr. Juliana Mutua from the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning highlighted the importance of comprehensive and inclusive planning to guarantee the project’s success.

“Our goal is to design a land use plan that not only aligns with Kitui’s development priorities but also promotes sustainable industrial growth. Stakeholder engagement is key to ensuring inclusivity and long-term impact,” said Dr. Mutua.

Discussions during the meeting centered on critical areas such as land allocation, infrastructure development, resource management, and environmental sustainability. Stakeholders’ insights and recommendations will shape the next phases of the project, ensuring it aligns with community needs while adhering to sustainable development principles.

Driving Industrialization in Kitui – The K-CAIP initiative forms part of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s ambitious agenda to drive industrialization, economic empowerment, and value addition across Kitui County. Once operational, the park will boost local industries, create jobs, and support the growth of Kitui’s agricultural and manufacturing sectors.

The Trade Executive was accompanied by a team of senior county officials, including CECMs Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele (Agriculture), Eng. Reuben Itiko (Roads), and Chief Officers Michael Kalii (Trade), Evans Mutemi (Lands), and Henry Nyamai (Energy).

The Kitui County Aggregation and Industrial Park is envisioned as a game-changing development that will unlock value in key agricultural sectors such as mango processing, green gram aggregation, and livestock production. By positioning Kitui as a hub for industrialization, the project aims to attract investment, enhance productivity, and foster sustainable economic growth.
