KITUI, July 29, 2026 – Yatta/Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o has joined fellow Members of the Kitui County Assembly in approving the County Government’s KSh16.54 billion budget for the 2026/27 Financial Year, paving the way for the implementation of key development programmes across the county
Speaking after the approval, Hon. Nding’o confirmed that the budget prioritizes service delivery and development, with KSh10.03 billion (61%) allocated to recurrent expenditure and KSh6.51 billion (39%) earmarked for development projects.
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation received the largest share of the budget at KSh4.66 billion, reflecting the county’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services. The Office of the Governor was allocated KSh2.46 billion, while the County Assembly Service Board received KSh1.47 billion. The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Revenue Management was allocated KSh1.35 billion.
Other key allocations include:
Ministry of Water and Irrigation – KSh1.20 billion
Ministry of Education, Training and Skills Development – KSh1.19 billion
Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock – KSh881.8 million
Ministry of Energy, Environment, Forestry, Natural and Mineral Resources – KSh765.7 million
Ministry of Trade, Industry, MSMEs, Innovation and Cooperatives – KSh660.7 million
Ministry of Roads, Public Works and Transport – KSh637.1 million
Hon. Nding’o said the approved budget is expected to accelerate development and improve service delivery across Kitui County by financing critical programmes in healthcare, water supply, roads, education, agriculture, environmental conservation, and economic empowerment.
The approval of the 2026/27 budget marks a significant milestone for the County Assembly as it fulfills its constitutional mandate of authorizing public expenditure to support the county government’s development agenda and enhance the livelihoods of Kitui residents.
