Kitui County has stepped up efforts to attract investors through a high-level Stakeholders’ Breakfast Meeting held in Nairobi, aimed at showcasing the county’s vast economic potential and building strategic partnerships ahead of the upcoming Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo (KASTIE) 2026.
The meeting, organized by the County Government of Kitui in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, brought together ambassadors, high commissioners, Principal Secretaries, development partners, representatives from national government ministries and agencies, financial institutions, private sector stakeholders, and Kitui business leaders based in Nairobi.
Kitui Senator hopeful Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele joined Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe at the event as the county intensified its campaign to position Kitui as a key investment destination. Dr. Kimwele currently serves as the lead chairperson coordinating joint ministries responsible for the upcoming investors’ conference under Governor Malombe’s leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Malombe outlined the county’s immense investment opportunities across several sectors, including mining, agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, manufacturing, and infrastructure.
He highlighted several investor-friendly initiatives undertaken by the county government, including the establishment of six Economic and Investment Zones (EIZs), the development of the 1,500-acre Kitui County Industrial Park, and the One-Stop-Shop investment facilitation framework designed to streamline investment processes and enhance ease of doing business.
The governor further called on development partners and investors to explore opportunities in Kitui and encouraged stakeholders to participate in KASTIE 2026, scheduled to take place from September 24 to 26 at Ithookwe Stadium.
He noted that the expo will provide an expanded platform for the county to showcase its innovations, investment opportunities, and economic potential.
The meeting also featured remarks from Principal Secretary for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana and Principal Secretary for Mining Harry Kimtai, among other speakers, who emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving economic growth and investment across counties.
