Yatta/Kwa Vonza Member of County Assembly (MCA) Mark Nding’o joined Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and county leaders in calling for unity as the County Executive and County Assembly commenced consultations on the FY 2026/2027 budget estimates.
The consultative forum, held in Mutomo and presided over by Governor Malombe, brought together county leaders to deliberate on development priorities and strengthen cooperation between the Executive and Assembly arms of government.
Speaking during the opening session, Governor Malombe emphasized the importance of collective leadership and putting the interests of Kitui residents ahead of political differences and institutional divisions.
“We are here because our people expect leadership that is united, decisive, and focused on results. Let us honor that trust,” the Governor said.
The Governor highlighted the county’s progress under devolution, noting that 12,423 development projects have been implemented across Kitui since 2013. He also pointed to the recently launched Infrastructure Projects Dashboard as a tool aimed at promoting transparency and accountability.
The four-day consultative forum is expected to strengthen collaboration between the Executive and Assembly, align budget timelines, and prepare the ground for public participation in the FY 2026/2027 budget process.
Key proposals discussed include the construction of all 40 MCA ward offices in two phases, establishment of six modern ECDE classrooms in every ward, recruitment of more ECDE teachers and VTC tutors, increased investment in Vocational Training Centres, and prioritization of road infrastructure development across the county.
Governor Malombe also addressed delays in the release of the Road Maintenance Levy Fund (RMLF), reiterating the county government’s commitment to prudent use of resources to ensure effective service delivery.
County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo urged leaders to focus on the common good and handle disagreements through dialogue, while Deputy Governor Augustine Kanani stressed that cooperation between the Executive and Assembly remains critical for Kitui’s growth and development.
Mark Nding’o’s participation reflected the broader message of unity and collaborative leadership that dominated the discussions as county leaders work towards delivering key development priorities for residents of Kitui.
