Kitui County Assembly Adjourns for August Recess, Sittings to Resume September 1

The Kitui County Assembly has officially adjourned its sittings for the August recess, with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) set to resume business on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m.

The adjournment, which took effect on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, was made pursuant to Standing Order No. 25(3) and in line with the approved 2026 County Assembly Calendar for regular sessions.

While addressing the House, Kevin Kinengo Katisya commended MCAs for their dedication, commitment, and selfless service throughout the session. He praised Members for diligently executing their constitutional mandate and urged them to use the recess period to strengthen engagement with their constituents while continuing to discharge their oversight responsibilities.

The Speaker further reminded Members to uphold the dignity, integrity, and image of the County Assembly during the recess. He encouraged them to adhere to the guidance contained in his official communication and wished them a productive, peaceful, and safe break.

The procedural motion to adjourn the House was moved by Harrison Maluki Mawia and seconded by Jeremiah Mutua. The Assembly will reconvene on September 1, 2026, to continue with its legislative, oversight, and representative functions.
