The massive turnout at Mwangeni Market transformed the empowerment forum into a major political mobilisation event, with women using the occasion to engage leaders on matters affecting their livelihoods, economic empowerment and access to government opportunities. Dr. Nyamai challenged residents to remain united and make informed choices as the country approaches the 2027 General Election.
The gathering was attended by Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo, Nominated Senator Beth Syengo and Kitui Central MP aspirant Bonnie Musambi. Their presence further demonstrated the growing coordination of UDA-aligned leaders seeking to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across Kitui County.
Also present were Kitui West MP aspirant Commissioner Ben Muasya, Kitui Rural MP hopeful John Kisangau Mbaki, Athi MCA Hon. Muthama Kirti, Mutomo MCA Hon. Masaki and Kanyangi MCA Hon. Katula, among other leaders and local political hosts. The leaders used the platform to engage directly with residents and push for stronger grassroots participation in the government’s programmes.
Dr. Nyamai’s mobilisation comes as UDA seeks to expand its political footprint in Kitui ahead of the 2027 elections. With the Kitui South MP positioning herself as a key organiser of the party’s activities in the county, the Mwangeni gathering offered a clear demonstration of the political energy being generated around President Ruto’s re-election campaign.
As the 2027 political contest gathers momentum, the declaration by residents in Kitui South is likely to add another significant dimension to the county’s political landscape. The message from the Mwangeni forum was emphatic: supporters want President William Ruto to serve a second term, while Dr. Racheal Nyamai and the UDA battalion continue building the grassroots machinery to advance that agenda.
