Kitui West MP hopeful Hon. Benedict Muasya has expressed what he described as “untold happiness” after visiting community-led development initiatives in Mutonguni Ward, where residents are taking practical steps to address challenges affecting their livelihoods.
Muasya visited Kamunyu Village, where he met members of various self-help groups and toured a sand dam project being undertaken by the community to improve access to water. The project is expected to strengthen household livelihoods by providing a more reliable water source for residents and supporting other economic activities.
The visit offered Muasya an opportunity to witness firsthand the determination and commitment of the community members behind the initiative. He also listened to their aspirations and challenges, reaffirming his commitment to supporting grassroots efforts aimed at improving living standards.
Muasya said communities that take the initiative to develop solutions deserve leadership that works alongside them. He emphasized that leadership should not take over community projects but should instead provide the necessary support to strengthen initiatives that residents have already started.
The Kitui West MP hopeful pledged to continue supporting the self-help groups as they advance the sand dam project and pursue other initiatives aimed at transforming their livelihoods. He said sustainable development is achieved when the determination of local communities is matched with responsive and committed leadership.
Muasya’s engagement with the residents comes as he continues to position himself as a champion of community-driven development ahead of the 2027 General Election. His message centered on partnership, empowerment and practical solutions, under his campaign theme, #LeadershipThatDelivers, as he seeks to win the Kitui West parliamentary seat.
