Former Mwingi Central MP Hon. Joe Mutambu has called on the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to immediately take disciplinary action against school head teachers who allow politicians to engage schoolgirls in inappropriate dancing during political events held in schools.
Speaking in Nguni during a women empowerment and public engagement forum, Mutambu, who is seeking to reclaim the Mwingi Central parliamentary seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket, condemned what he described as the exploitation of schoolgirls for political entertainment.
Mutambu said it was unfortunate and unacceptable for politicians to be entertained by young schoolgirls through what he termed inappropriate and “weird” dancing. He argued that such conduct undermines ethical standards and violates the rights and dignity of Kenyan children.
The former MP warned that he would push for the closure of any school where similar incidents are allowed to continue, insisting that school heads responsible for permitting such activities should be sacked immediately.
Mutambu also urged politicians to keep off schoolgirls and desist from using learners as a form of political entertainment or inducement. He said political leaders should respect schools as institutions meant for learning and protect children from activities that could compromise their dignity and wellbeing.
“There is a politician who has been captured being danced for by schoolgirls so that he can give that school NG-CDF money,” Mutambu said, condemning the incident as unacceptable behaviour. He called for strict action to ensure that schools remain safe and dignified environments for learners, regardless of political affiliations.
