Young Man Reportedly Sets Step-Mother’s House Ablaze in Nzanzu

A 21-year-old man is reported to have set fire to his step-mother’s house in Nzanzu Sublocation on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at around 10:00 a.m.

According to an incident report, the house was completely destroyed by the fire, with nothing reportedly salvaged.

The suspect, whose name has been withheld, is said to have fled the scene shortly after the incident. The matter was reported at Kyamatu Police Post, and police investigations are underway as officers work to trace and apprehend him.

The motive behind the incident remains unclear.

The incident is being treated as a suspected case of arson. Under Section 332 of the Kenyan Penal Code, unlawfully and wilfully setting fire to certain property is a serious criminal offence and may attract severe punishment upon conviction.

Authorities are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire and take appropriate legal action if the suspect is arrested and found culpable.
