Members of the Catholic Women Association (CWA) in the Diocese of Kitui have expressed strong support for Nicholas Mulila’s bid to become the next Governor of Kitui County in the 2027 General Election.
Mulila received a warm reception from more than 2,000 CWA members during the Annual Diocesan Mass held in Kitui and presided over by Bishop John Mwandi. The gathering brought together Catholic women from across the Diocese for worship, reflection and celebration.
During the event, the women highlighted Mulila’s long-standing relationship with the Diocese of Kitui, recalling his contribution to the formation and growth of the Friends of Kitui Diocese Initiative in 2002. They also acknowledged his continued association with and support for women-led initiatives within the Diocese over the years.
The CWA members said Mulila’s longstanding engagement with the community gives him a strong understanding of the challenges facing families, women and young people in Kitui. They expressed confidence in his ability to translate his experience and community networks into meaningful development if elected governor.
In his remarks, Mulila reaffirmed his commitment to building a Kitui where women and young people have greater access to economic opportunities, entrepreneurship support and platforms to participate in the county’s development. He also emphasized the importance of strengthening families and empowering local enterprises.
The governor hopeful said his vision for Kitui is anchored on years of service, partnership and engagement with communities and institutions. He maintained that sustainable development requires leaders to work closely with residents, faith-based organizations, women, youth and other stakeholders.
The CWA endorsement adds momentum to Mulila’s growing political engagements ahead of the 2027 elections, as the race for the Kitui governorship continues to take shape. His supporters are positioning his long-standing community networks and partnerships as key strengths in his quest to succeed Governor Julius Malombe.
