Yatta/Kwa Vonza MCA Mark Nding’o has said the prevailing economic hardships in Kenya will be a key determinant of how voters make decisions in the next General Election.
Speaking on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) morning programme “Good Morning Kenya” on Monday, September 7, 2026, Nding’o said economic concerns are increasingly influencing the political choices of Kenyans.
Nding’o, who participated in the programme as a political analyst, said the Gen Z factor cannot be ignored, noting that young voters are likely to play a significant role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 elections.
“The current economic hardship will be a key determinant in the next General Election,” Nding’o said.
He added that voters, particularly young people, are looking for leaders who understand and address the issues affecting their everyday lives.
“The Gen Z factor cannot be ignored. The people will go to the election to vote for leaders who speak the language they want to hear,” he said.
Nding’o was joined by Dr. Antony Gitonga and Daniel Juma Omondi during the discussion, which focused on “Politics vs Economy: What’s the Bigger Picture?”
The programme, which aired from 6:50am to 8:00am, examined the relationship between Kenya’s political environment and the economy, including how political decisions, governance and public policy influence the country’s economic outlook.
The MCA’s remarks come as political leaders increasingly turn their attention to the 2027 General Election, with the economy, cost of living, employment and opportunities for young people expected to remain major issues in the political debate.
