Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya has urged residents of Kitui County to look beyond political party affiliations when choosing leaders in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking after engaging with residents and leaders in Mwingi Central Constituency, Kinengo said the people, led by area MP Hon. Dr. Gideon Mulyungi and local MCAs, had assured him that they do not elect leaders based solely on party affiliation.
According to Kinengo, voters are more interested in leadership qualities, performance and the ability of a candidate to effectively serve and represent their interests.
The Speaker said the sentiments from Mwingi Central should serve as a reminder to Kitui residents that leadership should be based on an individual’s capacity to deliver rather than political party loyalty.
“I continue to urge the people of Kitui County to support me in 2027 as their Senator, without regard to the issue of political parties,” Kinengo said.
Kinengo is positioning himself for the Kitui Senate race as political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election continue to gather momentum across the county.
