Kitui Government Assures Lab Technicians of Action on Grievances

Date:

The Kitui County Government, through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, has assured medical laboratory practitioners that their grievances will be addressed in a competitive and structured manner.

The assurance came after the Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers (KNULMO) leadership petitioned the county government over pertinent issues affecting laboratory practitioners, including stagnation, lack of promotions, inadequate equipment and staff shortages.

The practitioners were received at the Kitui Referral Hospital offices by Dr. Benson Musyoka, Chief Officer for Medical Services, who represented the Ministry and County Executive Committee Member Madam Ruth Koki.

Dr. Musyoka assured the union that the county government was committed to addressing the challenges affecting laboratory personnel, noting that issues requiring additional resources would be considered in subsequent county budgets.

He said the administration of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe remained keen on improving the working environment for medical laboratory practitioners and strengthening health services across the county.

Dr. Musyoka also assured residents that laboratory services in hospitals across Kitui County had not been significantly affected by the practitioners’ picketing. He reiterated that grievances falling within the county government’s mandate would be addressed through consultations with the union and available government mechanisms.
