Kitui Governor Dr Julius Malombe, EGH, has taken his ongoing development tour to Nguutani Ward in Mwingi West Sub-County, where 114 development projects undertaken during his second term were highlighted as part of the County Government’s efforts to transform lives across the ward.
Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani was among the high-profile delegation accompanying Governor Malombe during the Friday, September 4, 2026, commissioning tour. The leaders toured various project sites, interacting with residents and assessing the impact of investments being implemented by the County Government.
Key projects featured during the tour included the Kithyoko–Nguutani Water Pipeline Extension, Nguutani Dispensary, Mwiw’ano Dispensary, Nzawa Vocational Training Centre, Muthunzini Market Shed and Kikiini Dispensary. The projects target critical needs in water access, healthcare, skills development and local trade.
The Kithyoko–Nguutani Water Pipeline Extension is expected to strengthen access to reliable water for households and other community needs, addressing one of the major challenges facing residents in the semi-arid region. Investments in dispensaries are also aimed at bringing essential healthcare services closer to communities and reducing the distance residents travel to seek medical attention.
The Nzawa Vocational Training Centre is expected to provide young people with opportunities to acquire practical skills that can improve their employability and support self-employment. Meanwhile, the Muthunzini Market Shed is designed to improve the trading environment for local businesses and create a more organized space for traders.
Nguutani Ward is now the 27th ward visited by Governor Malombe under his ongoing ward development tours. The tours have provided an opportunity for the Governor and his administration to inspect completed and ongoing projects while engaging directly with residents on their development priorities.
According to the County Government, more than 3,000 development projects have been undertaken across Kitui’s 40 wards during Governor Malombe’s second term. The Nguutani tour therefore forms part of the wider implementation of the administration’s development agenda, popularly anchored on the Kitui County Promise, with the leadership reaffirming its commitment to delivering projects intended to improve livelihoods across the county.
