Kitui County Governor Dr. Julius Malombe and Deputy Governor H.E. Wambua Kanani on Friday toured Matinyani Ward, highlighting the implementation of 100 development projects aimed at improving livelihoods and access to essential services.
The tour featured the commissioning and inspection of seven key projects covering education, roads, water, healthcare and renewable energy.
At Matinyani Vocational Training Centre (VTC), the leaders commissioned a new dormitory aimed at supporting skills development and creating a better learning environment for young people.
The team also commissioned improvements along the Kauma–Maseki Road, including three 300-metre slabs and 1.3 kilometres of spot gravelling, as well as the Kauma Secondary Borehole, which has been drilled, equipped and solarised to improve access to reliable water.
At Matinyani Market, 10 integrated solar lights were installed and commissioned to enhance security and support business activities. The leaders also commissioned the Ndiang’u Sump Well, featuring a powerhouse, four raised water tanks and a rising-main pipeline.
In healthcare, the new Kunikila Dispensary was commissioned and operationalised, with a main dispensary block, a two-door pit latrine and a 3,000-litre raised water tank.
The tour further covered the Kyambusya–Kimweli Road, including slabs and culverts linking Kyambusya Primary School to Kimweli via Kwa Lovi, with the 55-metre Kyambusya slab also commissioned.
The County Government said the projects are part of its efforts to take development closer to residents and improve access to basic services across Matinyani Ward under the Kitui County development agenda.
