Kitui South MP Dr Racheal Nyamai on Friday led a delegation of Kitui County UDA leaders in a series of grassroots engagements in Kitui Central and Kitui East, focusing on development, economic empowerment and government programmes.
The delegation began its engagement at Kavuta Primary School grounds in Kyangwithya West Ward, Kitui Central Constituency, where it met residents and local leaders to discuss development priorities and opportunities available under the Kenya Kwanza administration.
The team was hosted by Hon. Boniface Mutisya Musambi, who is seeking to represent Kitui Central Constituency, and was joined by Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, Hon. Charles Ngusya Nguna, Hon. Penina Malonza, Hon. Joe Mutambu, Hon. John Kisangau, Hon. Martha Mati and Hon. Esther Ndile, among other UDA leaders and mobilisers.
Addressing residents, Nyamai emphasised the importance of bringing government programmes closer to communities, urging residents to use initiatives targeting economic empowerment, enterprise development, agriculture and other opportunities under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
She said the delegation would continue engaging communities at the grassroots level while highlighting programmes being implemented by the national government and their intended benefits to ordinary citizens.The leaders later moved to Chuluni in Nzambani Ward, where Nyamai joined Hon. Nimrod Mbai and MCA Musyoka, popularly known as Mamen, for an empowerment programme involving 13 churches under the Chuluni Division Coordination Committee.
The Chuluni engagement provided an opportunity for the leaders to fellowship with members of the participating churches while supporting initiatives focused on strengthening the role of faith-based institutions in society.Nyamai said churches remain important partners in community development, particularly in nurturing young people, promoting moral values and supporting families and vulnerable members of society.
The leaders also highlighted national government programmes, including affordable housing, the Social Health Authority (SHA), subsidised agricultural fertiliser, empowerment initiatives targeting women and youth, and infrastructure development, describing them as key components of the Bottom-Up approach.
The grassroots engagements brought together political leaders, church representatives, mobilisers and residents, with the leaders pledging to maintain direct interaction with communities as they pursue development and economic empowerment initiatives across Kitui County.
