Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has warned Principal Secretary for Livestock Development Jonathan Mueke against what he described as interference in the political affairs of his constituency ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking on Friday during an empowerment and public engagement forum in Chuluni, Mbai accused Mueke of attempting to influence the 2022 MCA race in Nzambani Ward, saying the move nearly affected the election of MCA Musyoka Mbite popularly known as hon Mameni.
Mbai claimed that in 2022, he informed President William Ruto that he would support Musyoka to contest on an independent ticket, arguing that the strategy would help navigate the political terrain in Nzambani ward while also enabling him to campaign for the President.
According to Mbai, he later discovered that hon Mueke who was then running for Governor on UDA PARTY ticket had allegedly backed another MCA candidate on a UDA ticket without his knowledge.
He said he would not allow similar political interference in Kitui East ahead of the 2027 elections.
The MP urged Mueke to keep off what he termed the internal political affairs of Kitui East, warning that any attempt to repeat what he described as the 2022 intervention would be met with strong political resistance.
Mbai was speaking as local political activity continues to intensify in Kitui ahead of the 2027 General Election.
