Date:

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna Takes Charge of Road Rehabilitation as 23 Access Routes Get a Makeover Ahead of El Niño Rains Mwingi West’s very own Hon. Charles Nguna is on a mission to get the constituency ready for the anticipated El Niño rains.

He’s leading the charge with routine maintenance and spot improvements on 23 vital access roads throughout the area. These road works, part of the FY 2025/2026 initiative from the Ministry of Roads and Transport, are designed to ensure that residents can still reach markets, schools, health facilities, and other essential services, even when the rains come pouring down.

The improvements include clearing bushes, general grading, applying murram, building and enhancing culverts, and creating drifts at key locations. According to the MP’s office, 15 roads have already been completed, while work is still ongoing on eight others.

Some of the finished roads include Mbondoni–Nzaaiku–Kiroboko, Nzaaiku–Kwakari–Mukongoro, Kairungu–Malatani–Winzyeei, Kisovo–Itengeli, Beria–Kakululo–Nzawa–Kivanga, Nguutani–Katotu–Nzawa, Kwasiku–Kanyaa–Kwa Mutusi, and Katalwa Junction–Mwanzilu–Ikoo. The ongoing projects feature Kwa Kitemwa–Malatani–Wikivuvwa, Kivaani–Ithenze–Winzyeei, Kavaini–Kitumbi–Kwa Karanga, Mbondoni–Kiomo–Nzilani, and Kithumulani–Kyome–Ilalambyu, among others.

These efforts come as communities in Mwingi West gear up for what could be heavy rainfall, with better road connectivity expected to ease the movement of people, agricultural products, and essential services. The MP’s office emphasizes that this road program is part of Hon. Nguna’s ongoing commitment to grassroots development and infrastructure enhancement, proudly championed under the hashtags
