Residents of Mung’ang’a Village and surrounding areas in Miambani Ward, Kitui Central Sub-County, have received a major boost in access to clean and reliable water following the commissioning of the Thua–Miambani Sump Well by Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe.
Governor Malombe commissioned the water project on Friday, September 18, 2026, marking another step in efforts to improve access to essential services for communities facing water challenges.
The project connects four water kiosks located at Miambani Primary School, Miambani Market, Kwa Ben and Mutauni, bringing water closer to families and institutions that previously had to contend with challenges associated with accessing reliable water.
Approximately 1,250 households are expected to benefit from the project, alongside learners and staff at AIC Miambani Secondary School, Miambani Primary School and patients and health workers at Miambani Health Centre.
For families in the area, the significance of the project goes beyond the water kiosks. Reliable water means less time spent searching for the precious commodity and more time for children to concentrate on school, while households can plan their daily activities with greater certainty.
The project is also expected to support the operations of local schools and the health centre, where access to adequate water is essential for hygiene, sanitation and the delivery of services.
The commissioning reflects the county government’s continued focus on bringing development projects closer to communities and addressing basic needs that directly affect the quality of life of residents.
For the people of Miambani, the Thua–Miambani Sump Well represents more than infrastructure—it is a source of hope, dignity and a more dependable water supply for thousands of residents.
