CPA JOHN MAKAU VOWS TO FIX MWINGI CENTRAL’S DEVELOPMENT AND ACCOUNTABILITY CHALLENGES

Mwingi Central MP hopeful CPA John Makau has pledged to push for greater accountability and proper utilisation of public funds, saying residents deserve to see tangible results from government allocations to the constituency.

Makau’s message centres on a key question: where has the money allocated to sports, education bursaries, scholarships and development projects gone over the past ten years?

He argues that residents must be able to track how public funds are spent and demand answers where projects fail to reflect the resources allocated.

Under the funding distribution figures he has highlighted, education bursaries and scholarships account for 35%, capital development projects 47%, administration a maximum of 6%, emergency funds a maximum of 5%, monitoring and evaluation a maximum of 3%, while sports and environment account for approximately 4%.

Makau believes these allocations should translate into better learning opportunities for students, improved infrastructure, stronger support for sports and environmental initiatives, and better services for residents across Mwingi Central.

His message is clear: public funds must serve the people, and leaders must be prepared to explain how every allocation is utilised.

As the 2027 General Election approaches, Makau is positioning himself as a candidate determined to challenge the status quo and demand accountability in the management of constituency resources.

“Where is the money, and what has it done for the people?” This is the question at the centre of the accountability debate he seeks to raise.

However, the stated percentages and their application to the past ten years need to be verified against official allocation records, budgets and expenditure reports before being treated as confirmed figures.
