Kasalu Urges Families to Honour and Care for Parents During Syilumani Thanksgiving
Kitui Women Representative and 2027 Kitui gubernatorial hopeful Irene Kasalu on Saturday attended an in-law visit and thanksgiving ceremony for Edward Kituva at Syilumani Village in Mulango Ward, Kitui Central Constituency.
The gathering brought together family members, friends and residents to celebrate the recovery of Kituva’s mother, with the thanksgiving providing an opportunity for the family to give thanks and appreciate the support received during her healing journey.
Kasalu congratulated Kituva for taking the initiative to honour his family and for demonstrating love and care towards his parents, describing the gesture as an example that other members of the community could emulate.
She noted that caring for parents should remain a priority even as children grow older, establish their own families and pursue careers and other personal ambitions.
The legislator urged residents to remain close to their parents and offer them emotional, physical and material support whenever possible, particularly during difficult moments.
According to Kasalu, taking care of parents is more than a cultural responsibility, saying it reflects the values of love, gratitude, respect and appreciation for the sacrifices parents make for their children.
She encouraged young people to learn from Kituva’s example by making time for their parents and ensuring that they do not become disconnected from their families as they pursue their dreams.
Kasalu also emphasized the importance of family unity, saying strong families provide a foundation upon which communities can build a more caring and supportive society.
The thanksgiving ceremony offered a moment of reflection for those in attendance, with Kasalu urging families to celebrate and appreciate their loved ones while they are still together rather than waiting for difficult moments.
She said acts of kindness towards parents should be practised consistently and not only during ceremonies, urging the community to make love, respect and responsibility towards parents part of everyday life.
Kasalu’s message resonated with the family-focused nature of the gathering, as residents joined the Kituva family in celebrating the mother’s recovery and reaffirming the importance of standing together during both challenging and joyful moments.
