Kitui Women Representative Dr Irene Kasalu has strongly defended Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka following the heckling incident that disrupted his address during the Linda Mwananchi meeting.
Kasalu condemned the behaviour, insisting that Kalonzo, as the party leader, deserves respect and that political disagreements should never translate into public humiliation or disrespect towards fellow leaders.
In a firm message directed at party leaders, Kasalu urged them to take responsibility for their supporters and discourage behaviour that undermines unity within the political movement.
“To the party leaders, it’s high time you control your supporters. We cannot have a few individuals heckling and shouting down leaders when we haven’t even achieved our ultimate goal yet,” she stated.
She also appealed to supporters to put aside their emotions, avoid unnecessary confrontations and remain focused on the bigger political objective, warning that internal divisions could weaken their collective mission.
Her remarks come amid growing political tensions following the incident, renewing calls for discipline, mutual respect and unity among leaders and supporters as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election gather momentum.
