Mwingi West Has Turned Into a Construction Site, Says MP Charles Nguna

Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna has said the constituency is witnessing a major wave of development, one year after his political handshake with President William Ruto, with several key projects either completed or at advanced stages.

Nguna said the impact of the partnership is now visible on the ground, describing Mwingi West as a “construction site” as development projects continue to take shape across the constituency.

Among the projects highlighted by the MP is the Kiio Sports Academy, which is currently about 95 per cent complete. The facility is expected to provide young people with an opportunity to nurture and develop their sporting talents.

The Thitani Technical Institute is also taking shape, with construction reported to be 72 per cent complete. According to Nguna, the institution will play a key role in equipping young people with practical and technical skills to improve their employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

On infrastructure, the Kwa Siku–Mbondoni Road is approximately 70 per cent complete, while 26 critical dry-weather roads have already been completed. The projects are expected to improve movement of people and goods and open up previously underserved areas of the constituency.

Electricity connectivity has also expanded, with 4,118 homesteads connected to power, according to figures shared by the MP. Nguna said improved access to electricity is not only transforming households but also creating an environment for small businesses to operate and grow.

On water, the MP said plans for Colonial Dams have reached the approval stage for funding. The proposed projects are expected to contribute towards addressing persistent water challenges affecting residents, particularly during dry periods.

Nguna further said youth and women empowerment programmes are ongoing, with the initiatives aimed at supporting livelihoods and creating economic opportunities for residents.

“This is what happens when leadership chooses development over politics. Mwingi West is in the right trajectory,” Nguna said, pointing to the ongoing projects as evidence of what he described as a development-focused approach.

With several projects already completed and others nearing completion, the MP said more initiatives are in the pipeline as he seeks to accelerate development across Mwingi West Constituency.
