Kitui County Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzilu Nzioka has held a consultative meeting with representatives of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), focusing on strengthening public participation and promoting inclusive governance in Kitui County.
The engagement provided an opportunity to discuss the CBTS 2025 report, with particular attention to its methodology, key findings and recommendations relevant to Kitui County. The discussions sought to establish how the report’s recommendations could contribute to better governance, accountability and public involvement in county affairs.
A key focus of the meeting was the draft Kitui County Public Participation Bill, which is supported by NEC Hub. The proposed legislation is aimed at strengthening the framework through which residents can participate in county decision-making and have their views considered in matters affecting their communities.
The consultative engagement reflects growing efforts to build cooperation between elected leaders and civil society organisations in advancing transparent, accountable and people-centred governance. Meaningful public participation remains essential in ensuring that development priorities reflect the needs and aspirations of ordinary wananchi.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants agreed on the need to work together towards a better Kitui County, with a shared commitment to promoting inclusive public participation and strengthening citizen engagement in county governance.
Nzilu, who also serves as Kyangwithya West MCA, continues to feature in discussions surrounding public participation and county legislation as he positions himself for the Kitui Central parliamentary race in the 2027 General Election.![]()
