RACHEAL NYAMAI TAKES EMPOWERMENT DRIVE TO IKUTHA, RALLIES RESIDENTS BEHIND DEVELOPMENT AGENDA

By The County Diary

Kitui South MP Dr Racheal Nyamai has intensified her grassroots engagement and empowerment drive after hosting a major public engagement programme in Ikutha Ward, where residents turned out in large numbers to interact with their elected leaders and discuss development priorities.

The event, held in Ikutha Town, provided an opportunity for residents to share their concerns and aspirations, with Dr Nyamai emphasizing the need for practical, people-centred leadership that delivers tangible benefits to households and communities. She said wananchi were looking for meaningful economic empowerment, improved services and development projects that directly address their everyday challenges.

During her address, the legislator reaffirmed her support for President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, noting that its focus on agriculture, job creation, healthcare and education was relevant to the needs of ordinary Kenyans. She highlighted subsidized fertilizer and improved agricultural markets as key interventions for farmers, alongside employment opportunities through the affordable housing programme.

Dr Nyamai was joined by a team of leaders, including Hon. Nimrod Mbai, Senator Beth Syengo, Hon. Penina Malonza, Hon. Joe Mutambu, Bonnie Musambi and John Kisangau, among other political and community leaders. Their presence underscored the gathering’s focus on public engagement, economic empowerment and the development agenda in Kitui South.

The MP thanked the residents of Ikutha for their warm reception and strong turnout, describing the engagement as an important opportunity to listen to the people and reinforce the commitment to development-oriented leadership. The meeting also offered the leaders a platform to communicate their priorities and rally residents around programmes aimed at improving livelihoods.

Dr Nyamai’s empowerment tour is set to continue in Ikanga Ward on Sunday, where she is expected to meet residents and engage them on local development priorities. The programme comes as leaders increasingly focus on grassroots mobilisation and public engagement ahead of the 2027 General Election, with service delivery and economic empowerment expected to remain key issues among voters.
