Mombasa October 9, 2026 — Kitui Deputy Governor HE Augustine Wambua Kanani on Friday joined Wiper Patriotic Front Party Leader Dr. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka during his tour of Mombasa County as the opposition leader intensifies his engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Kalonzo is in Mombasa, popularly known as County 001, for a two-day Meet the People tour aimed at engaging residents and strengthening his political networks as he pursues the presidency in the next general election.
Kanani’s presence alongside the Wiper leader brought together two prominent political figures from Ukambani, highlighting the ongoing engagements among leaders as the country gradually moves towards the 2027 political contest.
The Mombasa tour provides Kalonzo with an opportunity to interact directly with residents, listen to their concerns and communicate his political agenda as he seeks to broaden his national support base.
As the 2027 elections approach, political leaders are increasingly stepping up public engagements, consultations and grassroots mobilisation in different parts of the country.
Kalonzo’s visit to Mombasa is part of his wider political efforts to consolidate support beyond his traditional Ukambani stronghold and position himself for the national presidential race.
