By YOANA KIMWELE

President William Ruto has inspected the ongoing Kwa Ngindu Affordable Housing Project in Kitui Town Constituency, a KSh417.3 million investment aimed at expanding access to decent and affordable housing for residents. The project is part of the government’s broader plan to improve living standards, create jobs and transform urban centres through modern housing developments.

The development comprises 166 housing units designed to provide residents with improved housing options in a planned and modern residential environment. Once completed, the project is expected to contribute to the growth of Kitui town while supporting the government’s affordable housing agenda.

The project is currently 75 per cent complete, marking significant progress towards its delivery. During the inspection, the President assessed the ongoing works as the government pushes to ensure that housing projects across the country are completed and made available to their intended beneficiaries.

According to the project timeline, the Kwa Ngindu Affordable Housing Project is expected to be ready for occupation in December 2026. The completion will offer prospective homeowners an opportunity to access housing within Kitui town while contributing to the expansion of the town’s residential infrastructure.

Beyond providing homes, the KSh417.3 million investment reflects the government’s focus on using affordable housing to stimulate economic activity and create employment opportunities in the construction sector. As Kitui continues to grow, the successful completion of the Kwa Ngindu project could support urban development and strengthen efforts to make decent housing more accessible to local residents.
