MBONDONI–MIGWANI–KWA SIKU ROAD HITS 60% COMPLETION AS CHARLES NGUNA SCORES BIG POLITICAL POINTS

The Government of Kenya is fast-tracking the construction of the Mbondoni–Migwani–Kwa Siku Road, which is now reported to be over 60 per cent complete, raising hopes among residents of Mwingi West who have long looked forward to improved road connectivity. The ongoing tarmacking project is expected to ease transportation, improve access to markets and essential services, and open up economic opportunities for communities along the route.

The progress comes at a politically significant moment following Mwingi West MP Charles Nguna’s decision to work with the broad-based government. His supporters are increasingly pointing to the road project as evidence that engaging the national government can translate into tangible development for the constituency. For many residents, the conversation is gradually shifting from political slogans to visible projects and the promise of better infrastructure.

The road has also handed Nguna considerable political mileage ahead of the 2027 General Election. In an environment where voters increasingly want leaders who can demonstrate development achievements, a major road project taking shape in their constituency provides the incumbent with a powerful campaign talking point. Its completion could further strengthen his argument that political cooperation can deliver practical benefits to the people of Mwingi West.

Meanwhile, sections of the opposition political camp, particularly supporters of Wiper, continue to defend the hardline *Wantam* political narrative. However, Nguna’s allies argue that political slogans alone cannot substitute for roads, water, healthcare and other development projects. They are challenging his competitors to present a convincing development agenda beyond political rallies and anti-government rhetoric.

As the 2027 political contest gathers momentum, the Mbondoni–Migwani–Kwa Siku Road could become one of the defining talking points in the Mwingi West parliamentary race. For Nguna’s rivals, the challenge is increasingly clear: they must offer voters more than political chants. For residents, the ultimate measure of leadership will be whether promises translate into completed projects, better livelihoods and lasting development.
