Kitui Central Member of Parliament hon Dr Makali Mulu is increasingly emerging as one of the most trusted candidates in the race for the Kitui gubernatorial seat ahead of the 2027 General Election, with supporters citing his integrity, development record and financial management skills as key strengths.
Leaders and residents backing the longtime Kitui Central MP argue that Dr. Mulu has maintained a clean public image for over fifteen years in Parliament, consistently earning recognition as a leader of integrity in various national surveys. His supporters say his prudent management of the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) in Kitui Central has transformed education and infrastructure in the constituency.
Speaking during past political engagements in Ukambani, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua once praised Makali Mulu for allegedly rejecting attempts to influence him politically through financial inducements, describing him as a principled and dependable leader. The remarks have since been widely referenced by his supporters as proof of his integrity in public service.
Before joining active politics, Dr. Mulu served with the United Nations Mission in Sudan where he worked as a project manager and financial advisor.
