The Machakos County Assembly on Tuesday held a plenary sitting presided over by Speaker Anne Kiusya, where Members of County Assembly deliberated on key governance and service delivery matters affecting residents of the county.
During the sitting held at the Assembly Chambers, MCAs debated the Governor’s Address delivered on February 25, 2026, focusing on the county’s policy direction and development agenda. The House later adopted the Motion on the Thanks of the Assembly in line with Standing Order 20(5).
The Assembly also approved the report on the vetting of nominees to the Selection Panel tasked with recruiting members of the Machakos County Public Service Board. Following the approval, Charles Kanyaa, Nelson Osiemo, John Thuo, Deborah Muya and Rose Ndaka were cleared to serve in the panel.
At the same time, Francis Ngunga sought a statement regarding the gazettement of Municipality Board Members for Machakos and Mavoko municipalities before undergoing Assembly approval as required by law. The matter was referred to the Committee on Urban Development for further consideration.
The House further received a response from the Water and Irrigation Committee on the status of the Kwa Masai Borehole in Kinanie Ward. According to the committee, the Department of Water and Irrigation has undertaken several interventions, including installation of solar power systems, replacement of the borehole motor and rehabilitation works aimed at restoring reliable water supply to residents.
The Assembly later approved a Motion altering the House Calendar before proceeding on a short recess. Regular sittings are expected to resume on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 10.00 a.m.
Speaker Anne Kiusya commended Members of the County Assembly for their dedication and commitment in advancing the interests of the people of Machakos County.
