A 42-year-old man from Kaiveria Location in Tseikuru Sub-county, Kitui County, has died under circumstances that police are investigating as a sudden death.
According to a report recorded at Tseikuru Police Station on the night of May 29, 2026, the incident was reported by Karangeni Assistant Chief Lilian Munanie Mwendwa. The deceased, identified as Syengo Kimwele, reportedly died at the homestead of a local traditional healer in Kaiveria.
Police officers led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene, located about seven kilometres east of Tseikuru Police Station. They found the body lying within the compound and documented the scene before commencing investigations.

Residents told investigators that the deceased had allegedly been accused of engaging in an adulterous relationship and was believed by some members of the community to have been affected by a curse linked to the incident. Police said information gathered from locals indicated that he had sought assistance from a traditional healer after experiencing health complications.
The report further indicates that the deceased had reportedly visited Tseikuru Level IV Hospital a day before his death seeking medical attention. The exact cause of death, however, remains unknown pending a post-mortem examination.
The body was moved to Kyuso Sub-County Hospital Mortuary where it awaits post-mortem examination. Detectives from Tseikuru Sub-county have launched investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
